GRANTS TO SOCIAL PROJECTS

U.S. Embassy Grants $80,000 USD (35.200.000 CFA) to Nine Social Projects


On October 5th, 2007, U.S. Ambassador Mr. David B. Dunn signed grant arrangements to support nine social projects throughout Togo.  The total amount of the grants
selected by the Ambassador’s “Self Help Program” for 2007 totaled $80,000 USD. The beneficiary communities will contribute to the long-term success of the projects by providing local materials and manpower.


The projects selected were:

I. Four School Constructions

• Secondary school in Danyi Afiadenyigba (Plateaux Region)
• Secondary school in Pagala-gare (Central Region)
• Primary school in Kpindi (Kara Region)
• Secondary school in Agbang (Kara Region)

II. Sanitary Infrastructure

• Four community latrines in Avexogan-Agripatodji (Plateaux Region)
• Construction of a latrine in Dalagou (Savanes Region)

III. Water Project
 
• Borehole with electric pump in Djadoukope (Maritime Region)

IV. Miscellaneous
 
• Dispensary in Bassar (Kara Region)
• Sewing and tie-dye training center in Djrekpo-centre (Maritime Region)


All communities throughout Togo are encouraged to submit proposals for next year’s Self Help funding. The deadline is December 31, 2008. For more information and to obtain a copy of the proposal requirements, please call 261-5470 or view our website:
