Public Diplomacy Book Debate addresses Corruption
A crowd of 72 people gathered at the US Embassy in Lome on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 to discuss Robert Klitgaard’s book, “Villes Corrompues: du Diagnostic aux Remèdes. (:Corrupt Cities: A Practical Guide to Cure and Prevention)
The book focuses on the need to fight corruption. “The Embassy of the United States remains, for its part, determined to support the Togolese government in its efforts to improve economic stability” assured PAO Brenda SOYA in her welcoming remarks.
The book discussion was led by Mr. Tchacondoh Ouro-Bossi, former Minister for decentralization and President of the NGO COPED. He further explained that corruption compromises the credibility of local institutions and deprives the population of their deserved resources. The author recommends rewarding good behavior and punishing bad behavior in order to eliminate corruption.
