Peace Corps Director, Mr. Gaddi Vasquez visited Togo from February 16 to 19, 2006.

The Director of the Peace Corps, Mr Gaddi Vasquez, visited Togo from February 16 to 19, 2006.  During this trip to West Africa, he visited Benin and Mali where Peace Corps Volunteers also work.

During his visit, Mr. Vasquez met with the Prime Minister and other government of Togo officials whose ministries partner with Peace Corps and its Volunteer programs.  In addition to meeting with government officials, Mr. Vasquez visited Peace Corps Volunteer projects in Tabligbo, Gapé-Gnassivé, Agodokpé, Kpalimé, Kuma-Dunyo and Lomé.

Peace Corps currently has 96 Volunteers working in Togo.  They live in all five regions of the country and are working in four major project areas: Community Health and AIDS Prevention, Girls Education and Empowerment, Small Business Development and Natural Resource Management.

Peace Corps has been in Togo since 1962.  Since that time, over 2,000 Volunteers have served in Togo.
