New Schedule of Fees for Consular Services
Lome: Released on March 2 2005
The Department of State has issued a new Schedule of Fees for Consular Services. The new schedule will be effective March 8, 2005, at which time the fees for certain services provided by the Department of State and by U.S. embassies and consulates abroad will change. Adjustments to the fees were made to ensure recovery of costs for consular services and to help pay for enhanced security features in visas. The significant changes are described below.
A surcharge of $45 will be added to Immigrant Visa applications, increasing the total fee for an Immigrant Visa to $380. The Diversity Visa surcharge for diversity immigrant visa applicants will increase from $100 to $375, increasing the fee for each Diversity Visa applicant to $755.
Furthermore, all applicants for a United States passport will be charged a $12 security surcharge in addition to the old fees.
The changes described above will take effect on March 8, 2005. All fees must be paid prior to an interview with the Consular Officer.
