Statement of Support for Communique on Togo Issued by the Economic Community of West African States

The United States fully endorses the Communiqué issued by the February 9 summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) that condemned recent developments in Togo and manipulations of Togo’s constitutional process. The United States calls on Togolese authorities to fully cooperate with ECOWAS, the African Union, and other members of the international community and to move peacefully and rapidly towards free and fair elections.
