Karl Hofmann, former U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Togo
Ambassador Hofmann was United States Ambassador to the Republic of Togo, October 2000 - December 2002.

Ambassador Hofmann is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister-Counselor.  He began his State Department career in 1983, serving successively in Kingston, Jamaica; Kigali, Rwanda; Rabat, Morocco; and Maseru, Lesotho. 

He is also the recipient of the State Department Superior Honor Award and Meritorious Honor Awards.  Ambassador Hofmann graduated from Georgetown University and the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. 

Ambassador Hofmann is originally from California.  He is married with three children.
